The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) aim to enhance the career development and training of researchers through international and intersectoral mobility.
For MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, applicants must have a PhD degree.
If you haven't been in Belgium for more than 12 months in the last 3 years prior to the submission deadline of the MSCA-PF call, you are still eligible to apply with a Belgian Host Institution.
If you have been here longer than 12 months, you can apply for:
a Global Fellowship with Ghent University as Host Institution (for nationals or long-term residents),
or for a European Fellowship with a university in other Europe Member States or Associated Countries.

Two types of MSCA Fellowships
European Fellowships
are open to researchers with any nationality moving within Europe, as well as those coming in from other parts of the world
can restart a research career after a break, such as parental leave
can help researchers coming back to Europe find a new position
last for one to two years
Global Fellowships
fund positions outside Europe for researchers with any nationality based in the EU or associated countries
last between two and three years
the researcher has to come back for one year to an organisation based in the EU or associated countries
Eligibility
Open to all postdoctoral researchers of any nationality who have obtained their PhD maximally 8 years before the deadline date, extensions are possible.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree by the time of the call deadline.
All research areas can be funded. Find a research group at Ghent University, which you would like to join, in our Research Directory.
The proposal is written jointly with the host organisation (i.e. a supervisor who is a full professor at Ghent University).

Funding
The grant provides an allowance to cover living, travel and family costs.
In addition, the EU contributes to the training, networking and research costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project.
The grant is awarded to the host organisation.
Timeline
The call usually opens in April and closes in September.
