The Interreg 2 Seas project aims to reduce CO2 emissions at business cluster level by creating energy synergies among businesses.

Ghent University will develop a new generic tool. The BISEPS-tool will enable the identification of energy synergy potential in business clusters and the calculation and implementation of optimal energy solutions. This tool will be developed through a learning-by doing approach. Five business parks, in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the UK, will serve as living labs for testing and improving the tool.

Triple-ATriple-A logo

Triple-A aims to help local Authorities who are seeking to support homeowners to reduce CO2 emissions in their homes. To achieve this, local authorities will be looking to raise awareness of exactly what low-carbon technologies are on the market and provide better access to these technologies via technology demos, consultancy and financial advice tailored to the homeowners needs and resources.

A Triple-A method will be jointly developed by the partnership. Local authorities can use this method for increasing energy efficient retrofitting of privately owned houses in their area. The Triple-A method will increase ‘awareness’ by making homeowners more conscious about the different low-carbon technologies that are available on the market and by convincing them about the related benefits. Simultaneously it will secure easy ‘access’ by bringing low-carbon technologies closer to citizens in an attractive way, by which they can opt for the technologies that fit their own needs and financial means. The awareness and easy access shall result in increased ‘adoption’ with more use of low-carbon technologies in existing houses.

Energy management in industry

We develop models and tools for more advanced electrical and thermal energy management in industry, e.g. within the SPIRE project EPOS.

Together with several industrial park developers and owners, we have been working on aspects with respect to interconnecting the stakeholders in an industrial park and optimizing their combined energy usage. This is not only a technical challenge as challenges also reside in the legal, economic, social and spatial aspects. This is the core subject of the ACE project.
