The book is the result of the First Meeting of Researchers of Movie Theaters of Minas Gerais. The researches carried out on the cities of Araxá, Juiz de Fora, Patos de Minas, Varginha and Visconde do Rio Branco fit into a reasonably new field of the cinema studies and New Cinema History. It is a movement that proposes to decentralize the more traditional focus on films and their directors to an appreciation of other aspects related to distribution, exhibition and reception.
