Your donation to a Ghent University Fund can really make a difference!

Your gift will go wherever there is greatest need within the topic of the fund. That can be a specific research topic, but a fund may also have options such as teaching- or culture-related topics.

In general, a fund is not restricted to one specific researcher, research group, department or faculty. A fund thus offers the option to support one theme within the university in a broader, multidisciplinary way.

Labo in vakgroep Virologie, Parasitologie en ImmunologieThis is one reason why each fund at Ghent University has a management committee including everyone who is involved, such as founder(s), researchers, external members (e.g. board members of a partner organisation), dean, and chair of the commission for the faculties’ academic research. They will ensure that the funds are allocated correctly so that 100% of all donations will go to the cause most in need. In this way you can be absolutely sure that your support will have a direct impact.

Spotlight on

The Marleen Temmerman Fund

Professor Marleen Temmerman is best known as a gynaecologist who campaigned throughout the world for the health and rights of women and children. She is also widely known as a researcher, author and policy maker.

Unraveling HIV Fund

Unraveling HIV is an initiative of Ghent University whose most important aim is to cure HIV, as it is still the deadliest virus in the world.

The CRIG Fund

One in three men, and one in four women in Belgium will be diagnosed with cancer before their 75th birthday. Even though there have been important advances in recent decades, we still don’t completely understand the mechanisms that can cause a cancer, and make it develop.

The Ghent University Museum Fund

In October 2020, Ghent acquired a new museum. The brand new Ghent University Museum (GUM) is in the middle of the Ghent Botanical Gardens, just around the corner from two other museums: MSK Ghent and SMAK. GUM is a museum about science, research, and critical thinking. Here, visitors can discover how science is a process of falling down and getting up again, and of hesitation, and imagination.
