Tessa Tuytschaever, PhD student at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering UGent (supervisors Prof. Imca Sampers and prof. Katleen Raes), studies 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘺𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴 in the food business industry.

In her research, she aims to find a link between environmental factors (e.g. temperature, hygienic design, relative humidity) and the presence of the food pathogen in the vegetable and potato processing industries.

Further, she studied the influence of angle, strain and temperature on mono-species biofilm formation of 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘺𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴 and duo-species biofilm together with 𝘗𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘢.
